What Can I Bring to Counselling?
Anything that is bothering you, or that you feel 'stuck' with, that you would like to talk about.
You might be feeling upset or distressed, be finding relationships with others difficult to cope with, you might have lost direction or focus and be experiencing life as confusing or threatening, or there may be work-related issues to consider.
There may be difficult decisions to be made, or you may simply want to take stock of your life and what you'd like for the future. Anyone can have counselling if they want to work on how to achieve a satisfying and more productive life for themselves.
What you can expect from me?
A relationship that is caring, confidential and creative. A 'healing' space within which you can talk about anything and everything that concerns you, without being judged or criticised. I will value you for the person you are, and offer supportive challenge to help you identify and work towards your goals. To 'get your tomorrow today!
Who am I?
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am a BACP Registered Practitioner and UKRC Registered Independent Counsellor. I am also a BACP Registered Supervisor.
I subscribe to the BACP 'Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy' (a copy of which is available from BACP). If you are unhappy with my professional working, and we have not been able to resolve this between us, you have the right to make a formal complaint to BACP.
I have an MA in Counselling obtained at Durham University, having already achieved both Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma levels at the University.
I work in an integrated and eclectic manner, using Person-Centred precepts for my work. This means that I offer respect, genuineness and empathy to my clients and am neither judgmental nor critical. Any other interventions I may use are in harmony with this philosophy, and I am committed to providing a safe, therapeutic environment for my clients.
My original supervision training was based on the principles of the Person-Centred approach, although the influence of other modalities means that I work in an eclectic manner. I provide supervision to trainee counsellors, independent practitioners, organisational counsellors and those working in Primary Care. I also provide non-managerial supervision to those working in other 'caring' environments.
Additional Information
My fees are reviewed in March each year. My current fee is £45 per therapeutic hour for 1:1 work. I notify my clients of any forthcoming fee changes a month before they will come into force.
I charge for all contracted sessions, even if you don't attend, unless you have given 24 hours notice (this includes e-mail or on-line counselling sessions).
Should I have to cancel a session, whenever possible I will offer you an alternative appointment. If we cannot find a mutually convenient time, I will not charge a fee for that missed session.
What Next?
I am happy to answer questions about possible counselling, with you. Your initial session will also help you to decide whether counselling is the right kind of help for you just now.
You can make contact either by e-mail or by telephone (I have an answerphone if I'm not available to take your call), or you can complete and send the online introduction form simply by clicking on the link below.
